REALLY Short Bio
Fronted by transmedia artist Leanne Dunic, the band’s sophomore album (produced by Jose Contreras of By Divine Right) is soundtrack to Dunic’s book “The Gift”. Darkly cinematic and catchy, songs are layered like the clouds that blanket the band's coastal British Columbian home. The Deep Cove is hard to label, and decidedly out of step with the current musical flavour of the month.
SHORT BIO
"The Gift" is the second album from cinematic indie rock band The Deep Cove, produced by Jose Contreras of By Divine Right and which releases alongside the book of the same name by author and composer Leanne Dunic. These coordinated releases showcase the multi-disciplinary talent of Dunic and the band, creating a unique experience for both music and literary lovers alike. Darkly cinematic and catchy, songs are layered like the clouds that blanket the band's coastal British Columbian home. The album was produced by Jose Contreras (By Divine Right) and features Dunic's haunting vocals over the band’s heavy and atmospheric sound. Songs are dark, yet catchy and melodic, hinting of PJ Harvey, Blondie, Kim Deal, Black Mountain, and QOTSA, but sounding decidedly out of step with the flavour of the month.
PRESS
"Reverb-bathed ’60s psych that guarantees an invitation to Austin’s Levitation fest... The paisley-hued sludge of “Other Gods” and the dreamily disorienting “Capricorn” is potent stuff"
- The Georgia Straight
"Taking flavours of indie rock and dark pop, the Vancouver band has no trouble forming a cinematic sound that provokes thought and wonder."
- The Permanent Rain Press
"The Deep Cove has a decidedly moody West Coast sound."
- Discorder Magazine
